Environmental Responsibility

Our Commitment

Hongkong Post (HKP) operates its postal business in an environmentally responsible manner. We demonstrate our commitment to environmental protection by adopting environmentally-friendly measures and practices in our daily postal operations. We make continuous effort to adopt practices covering the three Rs (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) across our operations. All relevant regulations, standards and guidelines promulgated by the HKSAR Government on environmental protection are observed.

Our Environmental Policy

In reflection of our responsibility to protect the environment and our support to sustainable development, we are committed to:

• implementing effective “green housekeeping” measures that will help us conserve energy and resources, reuse and recycle materials, and minimise waste;
• ensuring environmental sustainability, user-friendliness and safety in our service provision points and workplaces for all users, including our customers, visitors, staff and contractors;
• enhancing staff awareness of issues relating to the environment and sustainable living; and

• introducing postal products and services that take sustainability and environmental protection considerations into account and, where possible, enhancing public awareness and appreciation of the natural environment.

Our Green Management Structure

The Environmental Enhancement Steering Committee (EESC) chaired by the departmental Green Manager at directorate level with division heads as members oversees the adoption of energy-saving measures, supervises the progress of environmental programmes and audits, and nurtures a green culture among staff. The practice of green management is cascaded down to the Green Executives at divisional level, Deputy Green Executives at sectional level and Green Wardens at office/unit level. This green management structure supports our continuous drive to protect the environment and ensure the effective implementation of various green initiatives, housekeeping measures and awareness activities.
