Planning for a Green Way Ahead

Energy saving

The Government has set a target of 5% saving in the electricity consumption of government buildings from 2015/16 to 2019/20 under comparable operating conditions, using 2013/14 as the baseline. In support of this green initiative to foster a low-carbon and quality built environment in Hong Kong, HKP will strive to achieve this target. We have planned to conduct a trial of energy-cum-carbon audit at some of our major premises in 2015/16 to identify more energy-saving opportunities. With the experience gained in the trial, we will roll out this initiative to more HKP premises in the future.

Internal Air Quality

We are making preparation for engaging an accredited Indoor Air Quality Certificate Issuing Body to conduct Internal Air Quality inspection for some of our offices, with the objective of providing a pleasant environment for our customers and staff.

Collaboration with Our Customers

With the advancement in IT technology, we are looking into ways to further minimise the use of paper in our service provision, e.g. more extensive use of e-forms, e-notification and e-billing. We will identify opportunities to encourage our customers to adopt green packaging and use our online posting platforms.

Engagement with our Staff

• We will continue to engage the participation and support of all our staff in nurturing a green culture and sustaining the momentum in conserving the environment.
• We will continue to organise regular briefings for our staff on environmental protection initiatives. All members of the Service Excellence Teams are encouraged to contribute ideas to the departmental drive for more efficient use of resources and energy with specific reference to their respective workplaces.
• We will continue to organize green visits and experience sharing sessions for our staff to learn best practices and benchmark with leading organisations in this field.
