Global Postal Cooperation

Hongkong Post continues to play an active role in the international postal area.

Contributing to Multilateral Initiatives

Hongkong Post continues to play an active role in the international postal arena. In 2012/13, we participated in the APPU Executive Council meeting held in Hong Kong in May 2012 as a member of the China Delegation. We chaired two APP CMB meetings held in Seoul, Korea in April 2012 and in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in January 2013, and participated in the ASEANPOST++ Business Meeting held in Siam Reap, Cambodia, in November 2012. In October 2012, we attended, as a member of the China Delegation, the UPU Congress held in Doha, Qatar, where important topics concerning the global postal industry for the next Congress cycle from 2014 to 2017 were discussed and decided.

As the host city, Hongkong Post supported the China Delegation in organising the 2012 APPU Executive Council meeting in May 2012. Over 170 delegates and observers, including heads of postal administrations from almost all APPU members, attended the meeting to discuss and formulate strategies to address important postal issues faced by members due to profound changes in the global postal environment.

The KPG is an international alliance comprising 10 leading postal administrations with the objective of enhancing the operational performance and service quality of international courier and air parcel services among members. Hongkong Post, as one of the founding members of KPG, participated in the annual KPG CEO Board Meeting held in France in July 2012. During the year, Hongkong Post also participated actively in discussions at the Board of Director level.

Hongkong Post’s involvement in these multilateral activities ensures that we stay at the forefront of global postal developments and fosters our cooperation with other postal administrations.
