Our Team

Training and Development

Hongkong Post employs over 7,000 staff. To maintain a motivated and market-responsive team, training and development of staff potential is of utmost importance. Over the past year, 29,550 days of training were undertaken by staff.

In addition to induction training provided for newly recruited staff, a full range of training programmes were devised to tie in with organisational development and business strategies. The programmes were designed to provide relevant skills and knowledge to our staff and were regularly reviewed. For example, to build on the momentum created by our "Go the Extra Mile for You" programme, we had organised customer service skills workshops for hotline staff and supervisors.

Supervisory skills workshops were held regularly for Postal Officers and Postmen to get them prepared for greater responsibilities. At the managerial level, various workshops and executive development programmes were also held throughout the year.

In support of the Government's policy to promote equal opportunities, we provide guidance and training to staff concerned to enhance their understanding of related topics, e.g. racial equality. During the year, two workshops on "Building a Harmonious Workplace" and "Equal Opportunities and You" were arranged.

Improving Productivity

The Productivity Improvement Team is extending the Productivity and Quality Management System (PQMS) to more post offices in our retail network. We conducted system audits on a regular basis at our mail processing centres in order to ensure that quality standards were met. Studies on the operation of the Air Mail Centre are underway with a view to formulating measures that will enable us to cope with changes in the mail volume and mail mix more effectively.

Occupational Safety and Health

We strive to sustain a safe and healthy working environment. We have three offices accredited with Continual Improvement Safety Programme Recognition of Systems(Level 3) by the Occupational Safety and Health Council. The accreditation recognises the progress made by Hongkong Post in safety improvement.

The biennial Occupational Safety and Health Week was held from 28 May to 3 June 2011 to reinforce the culture of occupational health and safety in the workplace. A range of work-related seminars, mental and physical health talks and medical health checks were arranged for staff during the week.
