TO STAY AHEAD IN AN EVOLVING ENVIRONMENT, HONGKONG POST WILL CONTINUE TO ENHANCE ITS EXISTING SERVICES AND DEVELOP NEW SERVICES THAT ADDRESS MARKET NEEDS.
We are developing a one-stop multi-channel direct marketing web-based platform to help SMEs promote their products and services with the aid of multiple communication channels, such as physical mail (including direct mail), email and promotional webpages.
The personalised "Make My Card" service launched in March 2012 will be upgraded to enable customers to send heartwarming stamps and gifts along with the personalised cards. We will also introduce new product themes, featuring the traditional seasons of celebration. In addition, we will extend the scope of the service to facilitate corporate customers to send personalised communications to their clients.
The services offered through our network of post offices are increasingly more convenient, user-friendly and responsive to customer preference. In the coming year, we aim to introduce more one-stop services on behalf of government departments, businesses and organisations such as bill payment, receipt and processing of applications, distribution and counter collection service for permits and licences, etc. We will also optimise the use of our facility infrastructure by offering our network of 1,600 second pouch boxes located across the territory and digital displays installed in selected post offices for advertising and information dissemination purposes.
With the success of the new user-oriented design introduced at the refurbished Mong Kok Post Office, we will adopt the design concept in our other branch offices due for renovation or reprovisioning.
With the increasing popularity of online shopping, ShopThruPost offers an attractive virtual platform for local businesses, especially SMEs and emerging local designers, to promote their products. The order fulfilment service provided by Hongkong Post enables ShopThruPost merchants to serve their customers in an effortless manner. We will continue to recruit local designers and merchants, with a view to expanding the range of products offered on this online platform. We will also introduce themed promotion campaigns to attract patronage of ShopThruPost.
We will further enhance the EC-Ship portal by adding a bulk item acceptance function. In view of the positive market response to the e-Express Service for US-bound mail, we are exploring with selected postal administrations the feasibility of introducing similar service to meet the needs of internet traders.
We will continue to explore new ways to improve end-to-end delivery performance through better domestic delivery operation and closer cooperation with airlines and destinations’ postal administrations on smoothing item transfer in destination airports. We will work with key members in the KPG network to enhance the checking of delivery status of the sent items. Furthermore, we will develop a tool to assist customers to estimate the import duty and other fees related to customs clearance at the destination.
We plan to revamp the Speedpost website to enhance customer support by facilitating information search (e.g. downloadable postal forms and advice on form preparation, easy comparison of various services under Speedpost regarding price and speed, quick search for post office locations and the latest time of posting), and providing more comprehensive services (e.g. online postal form preparation, online requests for pick-up and ordering, etc.)
Hongkong Post's use of proven technology and robust management systems underpin the quality of all our services.
We will implement an integrated information system to streamline our counter operation and improve related back-end processes. As a result of business process re-engineering, the new system will improve our service to customers and the productivity of our counter operations at post offices. Upgraded back-end support will also further improve our management capability. The system will be rolled out by phases starting from 2014/15.
We will enhance our Mechanised Letter Sorting System to enable mechanical sorting of letters addressed in Chinese characters by the end of 2013.
Construction of the new mail centre at Wang Chin Street in Kowloon Bay is underway. The building will house the existing International Mail Centre in Hung Hom, which is required to be relocated to make way for the construction of the Shatin to Central Link, and the sorting office currently located at the General Post Office in Central. The consolidation of sorting activities into a single facility with improved building design, interior layout and equipment will enhance operational efficiency.
The new building will have a flexible internal layout so as to cater for the long-term development of postal operations. Eco-friendly design concepts, including indoor and outdoor landscape planting, are integral to the overall building design, which aims to promote energy efficiency and create a new facility in harmony with the neighbourhood.
The new building will be commissioned in December 2014.
