We have been supportive of charitable organisations by publicising their charitable activities through displays of relevant publicity materials at our workplace.
Staff members were encouraged to participate in The Community Chest's Corporate and Employee Contribution Programme and the Chest's special events during the year such as Green Day, Love Teeth Day and Skip Lunch Day, all of which were designed to help the needy.
Hongkong Post launched the Post-Secondary Student Summer Internship Programme which targets permanent residents of the HKSAR who are students enrolled in full-time courses at post-secondary institutions, locally or overseas. The programme's objective is to familiarise participants with the work of the Government in general and provide them with valuable work experience relevant to their fields of studies or interest. Their time with us also helps us to undertake short-term assignments.
Hongkong Post engaged a total of four interns from late June to August 2010 to assist in the fields of statistical work and postal operation. All interns successfully completed their engagements and the objectives of the programme were fully accomplished.
During the year, the PostCare Club continued to participate in a number of social service activities that helped people in need. These activities included providing English tutorial classes for immigrant children to help them integrate into the community, assisting physically challenged children with school assignments, cleaning and redecorating the homes of the elderly, visiting people living on their own and organising social gatherings for the aged. The enthusiasm and commitment of PostCare Club members received warm recognition from the community. In the coming year, the PostCare Club will continue to team up with charitable organisations to offer voluntary services and to help those in need. As always, the Club has spread Hongkong Post's culture of "Love and Care".
